Sleep apnea symptoms are classified into three types; obstructive, central and mixed. Obstructive is the most common case of sleep apnea symptoms. It induced by the relaxation of the throat muscles which hamper the airway. Sleep apnea symptoms also characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness, loud snoring, sudden awakening followed by shortness of breath, morning headache, difficult to stay asleep, dry mouth or a pain in throat.

Sometime the indications of obstructive and central sleep apnea occur at the same time, makes it hard to diagnose and difficult to define what the type is. The seriousness and frequency of sleep apnea symptoms are important to notice. It often considered that feeling sleepy in daytime caused only by working too hard. It is not always true, because daytime sleepiness is also one of the sleep apnea symptoms. If it occurs often and excessively, it can be the sleep apnea symptoms.

Loud snoring is also one of the sleep apnea symptoms which often found. This can be worth investigating. In obstructive sleep apnea, sleep apnea symptoms caused by the relaxation of throat muscles that collapse and hinder the airway. When the brain gives an instruction to the muscles in order to tighten to breathe again, the patient will be awakened and accompanied by a snort.

The sleep apnea symptoms which are rather difficult to notice are the episode of stop breathing while sleeping. It needs someone else to witness the patient stop breathing. If compared to obstructive, a central sleep apnea has more abrupt awakening with shortness of breath after stop breathing. It means that the brain is not sending proper signals to the breathing muscles.

Difficulty to stay asleep directly related to the frequent awaken signals issued by the brain. The sleep apnea symptoms occur when the blood oxygen level drops, the body corrects by arousing the patient long enough to continue breathing. The sleep pattern which is frequently interrupted will cause restlessness.
